Errors and Warnings: Merge Requests

ISBN does not have any bibliographic data in our records, and therefore cannot be selected as the primary ISBN. For more information on how to provide bibliographic data for this title, see Reporting Bibliographic Errors.

Warning when a request includes an ISBN that does not have bibliographic data.

You will still be able to submit your request even if a record is missing bibliographic data. Keep in mind, however, that you will not be able to select this ISBN as the Primary ISBN.

If you would like to add the bibliographic data, you can do so through SalesData. Please refer to Reporting Bibliographic Errors for more information regarding missing bibliographic data.

The ISBN provided has a past Publication Date. All merge requests must be submitted in advance of the book’s publication date.

Your request includes an ISBN with a past pub date. Remember, MBLT only accepts Merge Requests for ISBNs with future pub dates.

Cancel request.

The ISBN is invalid, and therefore cannot be submitted for a Merge Request. Please provide a valid ISBN to continue.

Your request includes an illegitimate ISBN.

Add the correct ISBN to the “Add ISBNs to Merge” text box and click the blue plus sign. You will also need to delete the incorrect ISBN by clicking the red X in the “Remove ISBN” column.

When adding the new ISBN, make sure you have the correct 13-digit ISBN!

ISBN <ISBN> is already included in an existing merge.

The request includes an ISBN that was already submitted for a Merge Request, whether by you, another user on your account, or an external user to your account. The MBLT cannot accommodate 2 Merge Requests at once with the same ISBN.

Note that if the Request was originally submitted through a user on your account, you will be able to see the existing Merge by clicking “View Merge”.

Cancel request.

If you’re trying to make a change to an existing Merge Request, you will need to delete the original Request. To do this, click “View/Delete” in the Actions column on the View Merge Requests page, followed by “Delete” on the View/Delete Merge Request page.

Invalid ISBN(s) provided.

Your request includes an illegitimate ISBN.

Add the correct ISBN to the “Add ISBNs to Merge” text box and click the blue plus button. You will also need to delete the incorrect ISBN by clicking the red X in the “Remove ISBN” column.

When adding the new ISBN, make sure you have the correct 13-digit ISBN!

Your request does not meet the minimum number of ISBNs. Please enter between 2 and 5 ISBNs to continue.

Your Merge Request at this point only has 1 ISBN. All Submitted Merge Requests must have at least 2 ISBNs.

Add the correct ISBN to the “Add ISBNs to Merge” text box and click the blue plus sign.

Your request exceeds the maximum number of ISBNs. Please enter between 2 and 5 ISBNs to continue.

Your Merge Request at this point has more than 5 ISBNs. All Submitted Merge Requests must have at least 2 ISBNs and no more than 5.

Delete the extra ISBN(s) by clicking the red X in the “Remove ISBN” column.

No Primary ISBN selected.

All Merge Requests must have a designated Primary ISBN to serve as the record used for bibliographic information in the Bestseller List. If you’re seeing this message, then you did not select a Primary ISBN.

Select a Primary ISBN by filling in the bubble corresponding to the ISBN of your choosing in the “Primary ISBN” column.

ISBN cannot have a past Publication Date.

Merge request cannot contain ISBN that has been included in an existing merge.

Not a valid ISBN. Please input at least one valid ISBN to continue.

You will receive this error message on the first page of Submit Merge Request if your request includes an illegitimate ISBN.

Note that this error also comes up when you don’t separate your ISBNs with a comma on the Submit Merge Request page.

Delete the incorrect ISBNs from the text box and replace it with a different ISBN, making sure you have the correct 13-digit ISBN.

Please make sure you add a comma between each ISBN.
