About full book previews
A full book preview, also called an F&G (folded and gathered), is a full sample of a forthcoming book that is made available to professionals in the book trade. This resource is particularly
...
useful for library acquisition teams and booksellers, as they can view the
...
full content of a book to support their purchasing decisions.
Publishers subscribing to CataList can upload full previews for forthcoming children’s books, and share them with accounts that are in the book trade. The content can be accessed on both title detail pages and the catalogue scroll view.
User access and display rules
Full book previews are only available to CataList users who have verified industry accounts, and users in the publisher account that uploaded it. Unlike other supplemental content, full book previews are only available for viewing prior to the title’s publication date.
Users are prohibited from downloading full book previews. However, there are a number of ways that you can adjust the display:
Acceptable file formats: PDF
CataList accepts full book previews that are supplied in PDF format. In order for the system to successfully process and display your PDF file:
The filename must include the ISBN.
The ISBN must already be available on CataList as a public or trade-only title, and must be associated with your CataList publisher account.
The file must be uploaded into the /fullbook subdirectory of the CataList FTP (see more about the CataList FTP in the following section).
The CataList FTP credentials that you use must be for the CataList publisher account that is associated with the title (this applies to distributors or sales representatives who manage more than one CataList publisher account, and may have more than one set of credentials for the CataList FTP).

The CataList FTP is different from the BiblioShare FTP, which is where publishers upload cover, author, and interior images, as well as excerpts, table of contents, teacher guides, and reading group guides (learn more about supplying supplemental content using the BiblioShare FTP). If you are a publisher subscribed to CataList but don’t have credentials to access the CataList FTP, contact catalist@booknetcanada.ca. |
Once you have your credentials, you can upload your full book previews.
Connect using the FTP of your choice (for example, FileZilla).
