Upload an ISBN file to CataList

In your CataList account, you can create and share catalogues with clients or colleagues. When creating these catalogues, you have the option of uploading an ISBN file from your computer to save time entering the ISBNs. You can use the same file to upload suggested quantities for titles in a custom catalogue.

Upload an ISBN file
To upload a list of ISBNs, log into CataList and start a new catalogue, or go to the Edit Info tab of an existing one that you want to update.

Once you have opened the catalogue form, you are ready to upload your ISBN list.
Step 1: Upload the ISBN file
Choose the Upload option in the Add ISBNs section of the form.
Click Browse for file and choose an ISBN file from your computer (see the file requirements below).
If your file includes suggested quantities that you wish to upload, select the “This file includes suggested quantities” checkbox.
Add or edit other necessary details for your catalogue.
Click Next.
File requirements
Your file should be in Excel or CSV format.
Column A in your file must contain the ISBN of the title you want to add.
If you’re uploading suggested quantities for a custom catalogue, Column B in your file must contain the suggested quantity for the ISBN (suggested quantities can be zero or a whole number).
The tab name must not contain an apostrophe character.
If your file has more than one tab, only the first tab will be loaded.

Step 2: Review the ISBNs
Review the ISBNs and the suggested quantities that you are adding to your catalogue.
If you no longer need to add a title to your catalogue, clear the checkbox for that title in the Confirmed ISBNs table.
When you’re ready to proceed, click Next or Save, and follow the rest of the on-screen instructions to create or update your catalogue.
Overwrite existing suggested quantities in a custom catalogue
When you’re uploading an ISBN file for an existing custom catalogue and adding suggested quantities to titles that are already in the catalogue, Step 2 will warn you of any suggested quantities in your file are different from the ones that were previously saved.
If you want to update the suggested quantity, select the Overwrite checkbox for that title.
If you want to keep the existing suggested quantity, clear the Overwrite checkbox for that title.
