Sales History and Comparable Titles

On the title detail page in the Sales History and Comparable Titles section, SalesData participants have access to the sales data for both the current title and its comparables.

In the Current Title table, participants with access to one or more markets can see the following information for those specific markets:

  • Date of first sale

  • On Hand and On Order numbers

  • Current title sales during the first 8 and 13 weeks, and Lifetime sales

The Comparable titles table shows the following information for the selected market:

  • Date of first sale

  • Comparable title sales during the first 8 and 13 weeks, and Lifetime sales

  • If you have selected a specific market, the sales for that market and the All Market are calculated using the specific market’s date of first sale.

  • If the specific market has not reported any sales for the title, the Date of first sale column uses the All Market date.

The specific columns that an account has access to can vary due to the account’s specific SalesData settings. If you have questions about the data available to you, contact catalist@booknetcanada.ca.

Select a market

Any SalesData participant that has access to multiple markets can save one market to act as the default market included in the Current Title and Comparable Titles tables.

To select a market

  • Click Select a market on either the scrolling view or the title detail page and choose the desired market.

The page refreshes and the market displays in the Current Title and the Comparable Titles table until you choose a different one.

Publisher view

Publisher subscribers to SalesData who have been granted permission from retailers to see sales broken out from the All Markets may also choose to see one retail market at a time in addition to the All Markets.

If you have selected a retailer market but a title is not in your account's watchlist, the retailer market columns will be blank. You will see the All Markets totals only.

If the title is in your watchlist, but the selected retail market did not report any sales for the time period, then the retail market column will display a zero value.

FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions related to the SalesData reports on CataList.

Why does data in the All Market First 8 and 13 week columns change depending on my market selection?

When you select a specific market, the sales for the First 8 and 13 weeks are calculated using your selected market’s Date of First Sale. Using your market’s Date of First Sale provides you with a clearer picture of the market share for your selection in that time frame.

If your selected market doesn’t report any sales for a title, the Date of First Sale for the All Markets is used instead.
