The following outlines step-by-step instructions to help guide you when submitting a Merge Request.

1. Input ISBN to Suppress

After clicking either “Submit Suppression Request” in the Navigation Bar or “Submit New Suppression Request” on the View Suppressed ISBNs page, you will be taken to the first page of the Submit Suppression Request section.

To start your request, enter the ISBN that you would like to suppress from the Bestseller List in the provided text box and click “continue”.

2. Verify the bibliographic data

After entering your ISBN and clicking “continue” you will now be on the second page of the Submit Suppression Request. This is where you can:

  • Verify the bibliographic data of the ISBN

  • Set a Suppression Date

  • Include any notes you find relevant to your request (optional)

The provided table contains bibliographic data relevant to your request, including ISBN, Title, Subtitle, Series, Contributor(s), Publication Date, Format, and List Price. Validation note.

Before you proceed, read over the bibliographic data provided in the table to confirm that you have entered the correct ISBN for your Suppression Request.

If there is any issue with your request, a red error message will appear in the “Validation” column. You will not be able to submit your Merge Request until you have fixed that error. For more information about addressing Validation Messaged please refer to Errors and Warnings: Merge Request [LINK].

3. Set a Suppression Date

Once you have verified that you have entered the correct ISBN, you now need to set a Suppression Date. You should pick a Suppression Date based on the first week you want the title to be eligible to appear on Media Bestseller Lists, if sales are high enough to make the cutoff for the list.

Please note the provided text box automatically fills with the Pub Date provided in the bibliographic data. If there is no Pub Date in the data, it will instead autofill with today’s date. Therefore, it’s important to make sure you have verified the Suppression Date before submitting your request.

4. Include any relevant Notes

Finally, please provide any other notes that are relevant to your Suppression Request. This is your opportunity to provide information that will aid BookNet Canada when reviewing your Suppression Request.4

5. Submit

Once the Submit Suppression Request has been completely filled out, simply click “Submit” at the bottom of the page. You also have the option to “Cancel” your request.[Insert screenshot of Submit/Cancel button, with both as blue option]

Please note that if there are any errors with your Suppression Request, the “Submit” button will be greyed out. There will also be a list of all the errors contained in your Merge Requestin red (?).You will not be able to submit your request until those errors have been fixed.
